Why patients book
Why our patients book IV Therapy
Our patients come to us from across San Diego, from Little Italy and Downtown to Mission Hills, Point Loma and North Park. These are the reasons we hear most. Our medical team will help you choose, or tell you honestly if an IV isn’t the right fit.
Low energy and fatigue
Running on empty: long weeks, poor sleep, the 3 PM crash, or fatigue that lingers after illness or a hard season.
NAD+ infusions for chronic fatigue →Travel and jet lag
Dry cabin air, crossed time zones, irregular meals and crowded airports, before you fly or after you land.
A guide for frequent travelers →Cold and flu: prevent or recover
Support before a busy season or a big trip, or a gentle boost once you’re through the worst of a cold or flu.
IV Therapy after the flu →Dehydration and detoxification
Heat, sweat, alcohol, a stomach bug or simply not drinking enough, plus the nutrients your liver relies on to clear what your body doesn’t need.
IV Therapy and dehydration →Nutrient deficiency
Low iron, B12, vitamin D or magnesium on your labs, or a gut that doesn’t absorb well, so pills alone aren’t closing the gap.
Why magnesium tests can miss things →Training and recovery
Hard training blocks, race days and hot days outside, when fluids, electrolytes and recovery all matter.
Nutrition for athletes →Longevity and cellular vitality
NAD+, Glutathione and antioxidant drips to support mitochondrial energy and cellular repair, as part of a longevity plan with our Doctors and your labs.
NAD+ and mitochondrial health →Skin
Dull, dry or stressed skin. Glutathione and vitamin C support collagen and an even, healthy glow from the inside out.
IV Therapy for skin →Immunity
Support for an immune system under strain, from busy seasons and frequent travel to autoimmune conditions.
IV Therapy and immune health →Inflammation
Antioxidant support with Glutathione, vitamin C and ALA as part of an integrative plan for chronic inflammation.
IV Therapy for inflammation →Brain fog and focus
Mental fatigue, poor focus and afternoon slumps, often tied to sleep, stress and nutrient status.
Cognitive fatigue, explained →Weight management
Metabolic support as one part of a weight management plan with our Doctors, alongside nutrition, movement and labs.

The basics
What is IV Therapy?
IV Therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants straight into a vein, so nothing has to survive digestion first. That’s the core science: what you swallow is limited by how much your gut can absorb, while an infusion is close to 100% bioavailable.
Vitamin C is the classic example. Your gut absorbs less and less of it as the dose goes up, so oral doses top out at modest blood levels. Given by IV, vitamin C can reach blood levels many times higher. Magnesium, B vitamins and Glutathione follow the same logic: an IV can raise levels that pills struggle to move.
We don’t make promises about results, and an IV is not a replacement for food, water, sleep or medical care. Our medical team will tell you what an IV can reasonably offer, and when bloodwork or a visit with one of our Doctors makes more sense first. Read more about the benefits
How it fits into integrative care here
Your IV is part of your care with our medical team, not a walk-in menu item. Our Naturopathic Doctors, Doctors of Acupuncture and the rest of our Licensed Providers work under one roof, so your drip can build on your labs and the rest of your plan. Many patients pair IV Therapy with Acupuncture, Nutritional Therapy or Red Light Therapy.

What it feels like
Does IV Therapy hurt?
Most people feel a quick pinch as the line goes in, then very little. The fluid can feel cool as it runs. You sit back in a reclining lounge chair with a blanket, water and a book, or work quietly. Your nurse stays close by and adjusts the drip speed if you feel cold, lightheaded or just want it slower.
When it’s done, the line comes out, a small bandage goes on, and most people go straight back to their day.
Make your IV your own
Add a Glutathione push or a vitamin injection to any drip, so you get more from the same visit and the same line.
Your visit
Your IV Therapy appointment, step by step
Book your drip
Choose your drip when you book online, then complete your intake: history, medications, allergies, pregnancy status and any recent labs.
Review and refine
Our medical team reviews your intake and labs. Based on that review and our Doctors’ recommendations, we customize or refine your drip and add-ons for the best results, or suggest something else if that fits better.
Your infusion
Your Doctor or nurse places your line and stays close for the whole infusion. Most drips take about 1 hour; NAD+ and High Dose Vitamin C take up to 3 hours.
Your plan
Drink water and carry on with your day. We’ll talk through how often, if at all, it makes sense to come back, and what else could support your goals.

Our drips
Types of IV Therapy we offer
Every drip is formulated with our Naturopathic Doctors and refined after a health review, so not every option is right for everyone. Drips use 1 to 5 medical credits. Choose one when you book; we’ll fine-tune it with you.
Signature and cellular vitality drips
Signature drip · 2 medical credits
Saffron Cocktail
Our Myers’ Cocktail, formulated with Glutathione. The Myers’ formula, developed by Baltimore physician Dr. John Myers, combines magnesium, calcium, B vitamins and vitamin C. We add Glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant, which is poorly absorbed by mouth.
The Saffron Cocktail →4 medical credits
NAD+ IV
NAD+ is a coenzyme your mitochondria need to turn food into ATP, and it fuels sirtuins and PARPs, enzymes tied to DNA repair and cellular aging. Levels fall with age. Given slowly, over up to 3 hours, because a fast drip can cause flushing or chest pressure.
NAD+ IV Therapy, explained →3 medical credits
ALA IV
Alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant that works in both water and fat, and helps recycle vitamins C and E and Glutathione. IV ALA has been studied for nerve health, including diabetic neuropathy.
Everyday drips

Energy IV
Built for fatigue and low reserves, around the cofactors your cells use to make energy, such as B vitamins, which drive the steps that turn food into ATP.
Restoring vitality →2 medical credits
Immunity IV
Vitamin C and immune nutrients. White blood cells hold vitamin C at many times the level found in blood and use it up quickly during infection, which is why many patients book around travel, busy seasons or a cold.
IV Therapy for immunity →2 medical credits
Hydration IV
Isotonic fluids and electrolytes restore blood volume faster than drinking when you’re depleted, which can help with lightheadedness, headaches and heat. Also used as support for POTS.
IV Therapy and POTS →2 medical credits
Pre + Post Travel IV
Airplane cabin air is often drier than a desert, and travel disrupts sleep, meals and immune defenses. Fluids and immune nutrients before you fly or after you land.
2 medical credits
Recovery IV
Hard training and long days in the heat drain fluids and electrolytes and stress your muscles. A drip to rehydrate and support recovery after races, training blocks or physical work.
2 medical credits
Stress IV
Built around magnesium, a mineral your body burns through under chronic stress and that helps regulate the stress response, muscle tension and sleep.
2 medical credits
Sleep IV
For stressful stretches and restless nights, focused on calming nutrients such as magnesium, which supports GABA, your brain’s main calming signal.
2 medical credits
Hangover IV
Alcohol suppresses the hormone that holds on to water, so you lose fluids and electrolytes overnight. Fluids, electrolytes, B vitamins and magnesium for the morning after.

Beauty IV
Skin from the inside: hydration plus nutrients your skin depends on, including vitamin C, which your body needs to build collagen.
IV Therapy for skin →1 medical credit
Revive IV
A straightforward vitamin and fluid drip and a common first IV. An easy baseline to see how you feel with IV Therapy.

Weight Loss IV
Nutrients that support metabolism, used as one part of a weight management plan with our Doctors, never on its own.

Methylene Blue + High Dose Vitamin C
At low doses, methylene blue can act as a backup electron carrier in the mitochondria and is being studied for energy and cognition. Paired with high dose vitamin C. Not for anyone taking SSRIs or other serotonergic medications, and screening comes first.
3 medical credits · labs required
High Dose Vitamin C IV
IV vitamin C can reach blood levels far beyond what oral doses allow, which is why it’s studied in integrative oncology. A G6PD test and kidney labs come first. In cancer care, offered only with your oncologist’s involvement.
High dose vitamin C in cancer care →3 medical credits · labs required
Iron Sucrose IV
IV iron for iron deficiency confirmed on your labs. It bypasses the gut, where iron absorption is limited and pills often cause stomach upset, and can restore iron stores faster.
2 medical credits
IV + Blood Draw
Your drip and your lab draw in one visit, so testing doesn’t need a separate trip.
Diagnostic Testing →Add-ons
Add to any IV
Add a Glutathione push or a vitamin injection to any drip during your IV appointment. Ask your nurse, or add it when you book. Vitamin injections can also be booked as a quick visit on their own. Members receive preferred pricing on add-ons.

Glutathione Push
Glutathione, made from three amino acids, is the body’s master antioxidant and a key player in liver detoxification. It’s poorly absorbed by mouth, so we push it into your line at the end of your drip.
Glutathione and immunity →Vitamin injection
B12 Injection
B12 is needed for red blood cells, nerve health and methylation. Low levels are common with age, plant-based diets and medications like metformin and acid reducers.

IV Therapy FAQs
How much does IV Therapy cost in San Diego?
At Saffron & Sage, IV Therapy is paid for with medical credits, from 1 to 5 depending on the drip. New patients can book a first appointment for $250 (normally $300) or a first appointment and consultation for $300 (normally $600). Do I need to be a member to book IV Therapy?
No. Anyone can book IV Therapy online, à la carte. Membership unlocks preferred pricing, member-only offers and events, and other perks.
Who gives the IV?
Our Registered Nurses, Karen Catalano and Karissa Agosto, and our Naturopathic Doctors, Dr. Alexander Aponte-Davila and Dr. Nazanin Ghetmiri, place your line and monitor your infusion. IV protocols are overseen by our Medical Director, Dr. John Kasawa.
Can my drip be customized?
Yes. You choose a drip when you book, then our medical team reviews your intake and any labs. Based on that review and our Doctors’ recommendations, we refine your drip and suggest add-ons for the best results.
How long does an IV Therapy session take?
Most drips take about 1 hour. NAD+ and High Dose Vitamin C take up to 3 hours, because they are given slowly.
What is the Saffron Cocktail?
The Saffron Cocktail is our Myers’ Cocktail formulated with Glutathione: magnesium, calcium, B vitamins and vitamin C, plus Glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant. It uses 2 medical credits.
What can I add to my IV?
A Glutathione push or any of our vitamin injections: B12, Vitamin D, Energy, Immunity, Beauty, Detox, Metabolism and Sleep. Add them when you book or ask your nurse. Members receive preferred pricing on add-ons.
What does NAD+ IV do?
NAD+ is a coenzyme your cells need to make energy in the mitochondria, and it supports enzymes involved in DNA repair. Levels decline with age, which is why NAD+ is popular for longevity and energy. It is infused slowly, over up to 3 hours, to keep you comfortable.
How is an IV different from taking supplements?
A pill has to be digested and absorbed through the gut, and a lot of it may never reach your bloodstream. An IV goes straight into a vein, so it can reach blood levels of some nutrients, such as vitamin C, that oral supplements can’t. That doesn’t make it better for everyone. For many people, a good food and supplement plan is enough.
Do any drips need labs first?
Yes. High Dose Vitamin C needs a G6PD test and kidney labs, Iron Sucrose needs iron labs, and Methylene Blue needs a Doctor’s review of your medications. You can do labs with us, or bring recent results.
How often should I get IV Therapy?
It depends on why you are coming in. Some people come once before or after a big event or trip. Others on a longer-term plan come weekly or monthly for a while. Our medical team will make a suggestion based on your history and labs, and you decide.
Is IV Therapy safe?
When it is ordered after a health review and given by trained clinicians, IV Therapy is generally well tolerated. It isn’t right for everyone, including some people with heart or kidney conditions, and some drips aren’t suitable during pregnancy. That is why every drip here starts with a medical review, and why we sometimes say no.
What should I do before my IV session?
Eat a light meal and drink water beforehand, as it makes the line easier to place and helps you feel steady. Wear a comfortable top with sleeves you can roll up. Bring a list of your medications and any recent bloodwork.
Can I use my HSA, FSA or LSA?
We accept HSA, FSA, HRA and LSA funds. Your plan administrator decides which services are eligible, so please check with your plan. We are direct pay and do not bill insurance; superbills are available on request.
Where are you located?
