Questions
End-of-life care FAQs
Who is end-of-life care at Saffron & Sage for?
Anyone living with a terminal illness or moving through the end of life, and the family and caregivers who love them. You do not need a referral, and you do not need to stop any treatment you are receiving.
Do you replace hospice or my medical team?
No. We are not a hospice. We work alongside your Doctors, your hospice team and your family, and with your permission we coordinate with them so everyone is working from the same plan.
What kinds of care do you offer?
Acupuncture with a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Psychotherapy with a Licensed Therapist, Spiritual Direction, Meditative Therapy sessions (guided meditation) and Hypnotherapy. You choose what fits, and we adjust as your needs change.
Is acupuncture safe when someone is seriously ill?
Our Doctors tailor every treatment to your condition, your medications and your energy that day. Many people use acupuncture for comfort, rest and relief from nausea or restlessness. We talk with your care team when it helps, and we will tell you if a treatment is not right for you.
Do I need to be religious for Spiritual Direction?
No. Spiritual Direction here is open to every tradition, and to none. It is a place to talk about meaning, fear, love and what matters most to you.
Can my family come too?
Yes. Psychotherapy and Spiritual Direction are open to family members and caregivers, including grief support before and after a loss. You can come together or separately.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions are at our clinic at 2555 State Street, Suite 101, San Diego, with the entrance on West Maple Street. Home visits may be possible depending on where you live. Call (619) 933-2340 and we will tell you what we can do.

Do you take insurance, and can I use HSA or FSA funds?
