The Use of Hyaluronic Acid for Crow's Feet

What is HA?

Hyaluronic Acid is a fluid, slippery substance that is produced naturally by the body - located in the eyes, joints, and skin. It’s role is to help things move smoothly, stay hydrated, and make your skin flexible. One of HA’s primary functions is to retain water. A quarter-teaspoon of HA holds up to 1.5 gallons of water, which is why products to treat dry eyes contain HA within them. In addition to it’s water retention ability, HA helps skin stretch and flex, reducing skin wrinkles and scarring. Within the joints, HA prevents pain and injury from bones rubbing against each other.

Outside of the body, HA is produced by fermenting certain types of bacteria and is used in many skin-care products. Hyaluronic acid is a type of long, chain-like molecule called polymers. Due to its length, it has space in which other molecules can latch on, like water, for example. HA’s structural shape, natural or artificial, makes it the best for absorbing water as well as transporting other molecules throughout your body. It can also function by attaching itself to other molecules. It’s structure also enables an environment for tissues to grow.
